Hearty Tomato Soup


Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (about ½ cup)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cans (10¾ ounces each) condensed tomato soup
  • 1 soup can milk
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon sweet basil leaves
  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

  1. In medium saucepan, cook and stir onion in butter until onion is tender.
  2. Stir in cream cheese.
  3. Gradually stir in soup and milk; beat with rotary beater until smooth.
  4. Ad seasonings.
  5. Heat, stirring frequently, but do not boil.
  6. If desired, garnish each serving with sieved egg yolk.
