Snickerdoodles


Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2¾ cups all-purpose flour*
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Mix thoroughly butter, shortening, 1½ cups sugar and the eggs.
  3. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
  4. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
  5. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon; roll balls in mixture.
  6. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
  7. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  8. Immediately remove from baking sheet.

*If using self-rising flour, omit cream of tartar, soda and salt.
