Green Beans With Hamburger


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups water
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dark molasses
  • 9 ounces frozen cut green beans, broken apart
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 3 to 4 cups hot cooked rice
  • French fried onion rings

Directions

  1. Cook and stir ground beef and onion in large skillet until meat is brown and onion is tender.
  2. Stir in garlic, 1½ cups water, the soy sauce and molasses; heat to boiling.
  3. Add green beans and heat to boiling.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 15 minutes.
  5. Blend cornstarch and ¼ cup cold water; stir gradually into meat mixture.
  6. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.
  7. Boil and stir 1 minute.
  8. Serve over rice; garnish with onion rings.
  9. If desired, pass additional soy sauce.
