Ginger Creams


Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup shortening
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour*
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon soda
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ recipe Vanilla Butter Frosting

Directions

  1. Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water.
  2. Blend in remaining ingredients except frosting.
  3. Cover; chill 1 hour.
  4. Heat oven to 400°.
  5. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake 8 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger.
  7. Immediately remove from baking sheet; cool.
  8. Frost with Vanilla Butter Frosting.

*If using self-rising flour, omit salt and soda
