Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour*
- ½ teaspoon soda
- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 1 cup fortified whole wheat flakes cereal
- ½ cup shredded coconut
Directions
- Heat over to 375°.
- Mix thoroughly shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla.
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 10 minutes.
- Immediately remove from baking sheet.
*If using self-rising flour, omit soda, baking powder and salt. If using quick-mixing flour, mix 2 tablespoons milk into shortening mixture.
