Ingredients
- 2 cups buttermilk baking mix
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup butter or margarine, melted
- ½ cup sugar
Directions
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Mix thoroughly baking mix, 2 tablespoons sugar, the nutmeg, cinnamon, milk and egg.
- Beat vigorously 20 strokes.
- Round up dough on lightly floured cloth-covered board; knead 5 times.
- Roll ½ inch thick.
- Cut with floured doughnut cutter
- To make Bowknots, hold opposite sides of each ring with fingers and twist to form figure “8.”
- Place “holes” (Buttons) and Bowknots on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 8 to 10 minutes.
- Immediately after baking, dip each Button and Bowknot into melted butter, then into sugar.
