Ingredients
- 1½ cups cornmeal
- ½ cup all-purpose flour*
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon soda
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1½ cups buttermilk
- 1 egg
Directions
- Heat oven to 450°.
- Grease corn stick pans; place in oven to heat.
- Stir together all ingredients; beat vigorously ½ minute.
- Fill pans ⅔ full.
- Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
*If using self-rising flour, decrease baking powder to 2 teaspoons and omit salt.
